Guitar Tuition and Photography

Guitar Tuition

I now have a new guitar tuition website with more information and available vacancies:

Please Note: Lessons are still available as normal through the holidays - except Bank Holidays.

I have been teaching guitar since 1984 and have gained the vast majority of students by means of recommendations and referrals. Lessons are fun, rewarding and instructive. Some want to play guitar for personal enjoyment and others have gone on to greater things in recording and performing!

Photography

I started photography in 1980 and since 1999 haved used Pentax equipment.

All photos are meticulously processed to the highest standard possible from RAW using DXO Optics Pro 6 or Adobe Lightroom 3. If any subsequent "polishing" is needed it is done in Photoshop.
I concentrate on supplying Stock Photos but I also cover Wedding, Portrait and Commercial photography. My dedicated photography website is on it's way. . . slowly.

You can see my growing portfolio of Stock photos accepted and available for commercial or private use at:
iStockphoto and Thinkstock - both part of Getty Images.

This has proved to be my best selling image by a long way. And has climbed to the top spot on iStocks search rankings for Newcastle.

I had to get up at 3:45 in the morning to get to Newcastle for this photo of the sun rising directly behind the Tyne Bridges. This only happens for a few days twice a year. And the lighting and other conditions need to great at the same time! And then I need to do everything right. . .

I am now supplying photographs to Shutterstock, the largest supplier of images for the subscription market. And will be adding most of my existing portfolio as soon as possible.

What is Stock Photography?
Stock photography is a term that refers to photographs that can be licensed for public or commercial use, which are usually found on professional stock photography websites. These are photographs that can be used for any purpose in marketing, advertising, or design, as long as it is not used for illegal or harmful purposes.

Rather than shoulder the expense of hiring a photographer to take unique photos, many advertising companies, graphic designers, web designers, and other professionals frequently take advantage of stock photography to fill their design needs for high quality photographs.

I shoot with a top of the range:
Pentax K5 and a K200d with mainly
Pentax SMC 16-45mm DA f/4 ED-AL
Pentax SMC 50mm A f/1.7
Pentax SMC 135mm M f/3.5
Pentax SMC 18-55mm DA WR
Pentax SMC FA 28-70mm f/4 AL
Tamron AF 70-300mm f4 Di Macro
Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC
and an excellent Cosina 50mmf/2
Pentax AF540FGZ flash (actually the identical Samsung SEF-54PZF clone)
sometimes in conjunction with Cobra D632 hammerhead flash.

Images are processed from RAW to the very highest standard possible in DXO Optics Pro 6 or Adobe Lightroom 3. Any further changes are made in Photoshop if needed.
